https://www.roman.co.uk/ (roman.co.uk) are the UK’s favourite affordable ladies fashion retailer - and have grown their sales consistently, both offline and online, to become a strong well-rounded retailer with a large catalogue of product and a loyal base of customers.

Their website attracts around 20 million users per year, who engage well with all elements of the website and convert above the industry average rate.

Roman replatformed to Remarkable Commerce in August 2016 to great success - which saw online sales grow from £6 to £60 million PA within just four years of using the Remarkable Commerce platform and since then, growth has continued to be consistent.

User improvements with their upgrade include:

  • Huge speed improvements, with a lightning-fast site speed now enabling hassle free shopping

Roman are an incredibly agile retailer who react quickly to trends, customer behaviours and the wider purchasing factors, such as the weather and key events. As a womenswear retailer who are already attracting a demographic of ladies aged 40 and above, Roman adds an average of 60 new styles to their website every day and are always looking at ways to improve their digital storefront to build on the success already achieved.

So, after 6 years they wanted to refresh the platform with a new CMS and improved client driven content. The aim was to have the work complete by Black Friday 2022, so it was well-tested in time for the busiest time of the retail calendar. The project took 6 months to complete and went live in mid-October.

Immediately after the upgrade went live, Roman have seen some positive statistics, which include:

  • Average-order-value (AOV) up 10%

Overall, the site is much more efficient due to its use of a modern and lightweight architecture framework which allows the platform to be more powerful but with less servers. This enables Roman to save money in hosting costs without limiting functionality or site availability.

Other integrations and apps that help and complement the site are the Roman Ambassadors (powered by https://loudcrowd.com/), https://www.klarna.com/uk/ for ‘buy now pay later’ (BNPL), https://www.royalmail.com/ for delivery, the https://emplifi.io/ product review system and https://www.crownpeak.com/products/product-discovery/ for product retailing.
