Orelia Jewellery Streamlines John Lewis Marketplace Integration with Bespoke Middleware Solution
Orelia Jewellery, a leading UK accessories brand, has taken a major step in optimising its online operations by partnering with Remarkable Commerce to develop a next-generation middleware solution. The project replaces an unsupported integration tool that had been responsible for syncing John Lewis marketplace orders into Orelia’s Shopify platform.
Orelia currently generates hundreds of orders per week via JohnLewis.com. These orders are managed through the John Lewis systems, which feeds into Orelia’s own operations via middleware. However, when the incumbent solution became unsupported and began to cause bugs, the risk to continuity of service was clear.
With a tight deadline and the need to ensure zero downtime for order processing, Remarkable Commerce was commissioned to design, build, and launch a lightweight but robust middleware system.
A robust, future-proof integration
The new solution retrieves orders directly from the John Lewis portal, reformats them to match Shopify’s required structure, applies custom logic to overcome stock and product code challenges, and then pushes them into Shopify via API. The process runs to a set schedule, ensuring orders appear promptly and correctly in Shopify’s admin for fulfilment.
The custom middleware solution included:
- Connecting to the John Lewis product/order management system and automating order retrieval.
- Reformatting and processing order data, including applying custom stock-handling logic.
- Pushing orders into Shopify’s API with full status tracking.
- Testing end-to-end with Orelia’s operations team to ensure seamless syncing.
The 3-week project was delivered with precision and speed, ensuring Orelia’s order flow from John Lewis continued uninterrupted.
Following go-live, Remarkable Commerce is providing ongoing support to ensure ongoing stability and fast resolution of any potential issues.
