A better fit: Skopes leaves Magento for Remarkable

By Brad Houldsworth

Skopes, the Leeds menswear brand that has been making suits since 1948, is now live on the Remarkable Commerce platform. The new skopes.co.uk replaces a Magento storefront with a faster, cleaner site, connected to NetSuite ERP and Adyen payments.

The build project kicked-off in June 2026 and then go-live was mid September 2026. Below, we cover why Skopes moved, how discovery shaped the scope, what we built for a tailoring catalogue, and what the numbers show in the first fortnight.

About Skopes

Skopes has been making men's tailoring in Yorkshire for 78 years. It is a family-owned business, run from Leeds, selling suits, jackets, shirts, trousers, knitwear and accessories through its stores and online.

The range covers the full occasion calendar, from business and interviews to weddings, races, proms and black tie. A dedicated Big & Tall collection goes up to a 62-inch chest.

Sizing is the commercial heart of the catalogue. Suits sell as separates across several fits and leg lengths, and each season brings around 3,000 new size variants.

Why Skopes moved off Magento

A tailoring catalogue punishes a slow, rigid platform. Every suit is a set of separates, every separate comes in several fits and lengths, and the shopper needs to trust that the combination they want is actually in stock.

The Magento site was struggling on the basics. A crawl before migration found nearly 20% of its URLs took longer than a second to load, and none of its 1,447 pages carried correct structured data.

The systems around it were set to change too. Skopes was moving its back office onto NetSuite, its payments contract was due to end in October 2026, and search ran through a separate third-party provider.

The brief from Skopes was clear: a cleaner, more premium storefront that reflects the quality of the product, without losing the accessible price point its customers know.

Discovery: two workshops, one signed-off scope

Remarkable ran discovery as two in-person workshops in spring 2026, with the Skopes leadership and eCommerce team in the room.

The first discovery session, covered data and systems: which system is master of products, stock, customers and orders, how data flows into and out of the platform, and how thousands of product assets would be supplied. The second session covered the storefront: UX, page templates, merchandising, checkout and tracking.

The output was a technical specification, UX wireframes and a component-by-component frontend requirements list, which became a fixed build scope signed off before kick-off.

Two decisions from discovery shaped everything after it. NetSuite would be the master of stock and orders, with the website pushing orders in and pulling status, refunds and tracking back out - all done via the NetSuite Rest API. And payments would move to Adyen as a single gateway for cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna, at less than half the integration effort of wiring each method in separately.

The build: 14 weeks, with NetSuite at the centre

The build kicked off in June 2026 and went live mid September, 14 weeks later. The NetSuite integration was the largest single workstream, and the launch date moved so that order, stock and refund flows could be tested end to end against live feeds before a single customer order depended on them.

NetSuite ERP integration

Orders placed on the website push straight into NetSuite. Stock syncs back from a dedicated web location pool, refunds and returns flow through to the Remarkable admin, and FedEx tracking data surfaces in the customer's My Account area. The process for launching new products was mapped end to end with the Skopes team before any code was written.

Four payment methods, one gateway

Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna all run through a single Adyen account, with PayPal alongside. Checkout is a single page, with guest checkout and Loqate address lookup to cut keying errors on delivery details.

Data migration without losing history

Twelve months of order history moved across seamlessly, so returning customers see their previous orders in My Account from day one. Customer records and existing blog articles were migrated into the platform, and full-resolution product images and video load in bulk over SFTP, with the admin flagging any file that fails to import - giving the Skopes team an enrichment solution to improve efficiency.

Additional data, such as blog/editorial content was cleanly migrated from Magento & Wordpress over to Remarkable, too - ensuring that URLs remained consistent.

To safeguard against SEO risk, we also matched the URL structure/hierarchy on the new storefront, with the old site. This meant there were minimal redirects needed and pages continued to resolve at the historic URL.

A headless storefront built around fit

Most of the frontend work went into helping shoppers find the right size, first time:

  • Fit and size selection: a fit selector on every product page, with sizes split into two dropdowns so trousers are chosen by waist and leg length separately.
  • Honest availability: out-of-stock sizes stay visible in the dropdown, with an email-me-when-back-in-stock option that the team can track in the admin.
  • Building the outfit: Complete the Look and You May Also Like carousels on product pages, and a suit carrier offer in the basket.
  • Faster browsing: colour swatches and image scrolling on category pages, slide-out filters, and a predictive search overlay showing products, categories and recent searches as the shopper searches.
Skopes suits replatform
Tailoring is one of the hardest catalogues in fashion to sell online. A suit is several products, each in several fits and lengths, and the shopper has to trust that the combination they want is in stock. Skopes needed a platform where NetSuite, the storefront and the size data all agree, and that is what we have built together.

Brad Houldsworth, Strategy Director, Remarkable Commerce

Our customers come to us for a suit that fits and a price that makes sense. The new site finally shows the quality of our tailoring, and our team can now run it day to day without fighting the technology.
